Life is laden with questions. Everyone has a
question or two about something in life; Why, Where, What and Who? These are
words human beings have asked and will continue to ask, several times over.
Sometimes there are answers; sometimes not, until we are wearied and frustrated
to exasperation and we resign.
People ask questions based upon their background,
level of education, culture, levels of opportunities, etc. Why are some born
black others white? Why do we have to obey school rules? Why do the stars come
out at night? Why do some companies or individuals succeed where others have
failed so miserably? Why do some parents end up with one problem child amongst
three or four yet others with more children, all of whom become responsible
adults? We all ask why?
I engaged my mind with questions until I
discovered, later on in life, that questions are seeds to innovations and that
if you ask hard and long enough, you often get answers, someone said “It is the
quality of your questions which determine the quality and impact of life”.
After several years of questioning and
researching about accomplished men and women, I became convinced that nature is
fair to each and every one of us. Good fortune happens to us all. Nature has no
preferences and I want to believe that life, in general does not show special favor to any group of persons and cruelty to others. What, then is the
difference between the mediocre and the excellent, the outstanding and the
ordinary? What is the difference between those who accomplishments outlive them
and those who are barely remembered when they cross the Rubicon? What is the
difference between men and women who seem to drive down the highway of success
on cruise control and those who cannot even start the engines of their lives?
I believe the answer lies in your ability to know
what opportunities are, how to identify them and the skill to make maximum use
of them when you find them.
Opportunities, like seeds, are pregnant with
potential. If a seed is planted in the right soil, nurtured appropriately and
pruned now and again, it will, inevitably, blossom and bear fruit in due season
.Opportunities have similar characteristics: If they are handled well, they
will blossom into success and give us fulfillment in life.
Successful men and women take advantage of their
opportunities. They first recognize opportunity, grab it and run with it with
all the zeal they have. They also realize that there are no securities in
life’s situations and hence they are in a perpetual state of readiness to embrace
new opportunities and the challenges they present.
Opportunities, like seed time and harvest time
will never cease as long as the world exists. It is universal phenomenon.
Opportunities are not limited to some parts of the globe. It is just that some
nations have learnt to seize the little opportunities that come their way and
naturally, bigger ones have followed. It is a matter of Principle
